EN: Performance Art in Walking Street

It’s good to see that what effectively put Pai on the map, ie art and music is making some sort of resurgence in Pai. As I drove through Walking Street late yesterday evening, I noticed a huge crowd of Thai’s gathered around a single foreign artist, sitting in the lotus position, on a mat by the side of the road & balancing what appeared to be, glass balls of differing sizes.

The photograph does not do justice to this gentleman’s skill. Eventually balancing three balls on top of his head while holding 4 or 5 other balls in his hands and having them flow over his fingers and arms like water.

On another note, as the performance was going on, I noticed 2 of Pai’s finest walking the beat up Walking Street under instructions, I presume, from our new Head of Police. While the crowd (all Thai) applauded the show and left generous tips in the hat, our protectors nodded, smiled and continued to saunter by. Nice one chaps, hope this continues to be policy.
