This is a fact, 20 years (well near on 18 to be precise) I remember climbing to the top of the Tarzan’s bungy jump tower in Phuket. It was something I did on a daily basis as I worked there for nearly a year. 60 meters high, 500 jumps under my belt, unharnessed sitting on top of that steel scaffolding without a worry in the world.
What a difference a few decades make. Today I head out to the Pai Canyon, edge my way carefully to the cliff’s edge and metaphorically poo my pants as I gaze out over cliffs edge and the valley some 25 meters below.
The Pai Canyon is both exciting and scary at the same time, the ridge, at approximately 1 meter in width is wide enough to accommodate anyone contemplating navigating the narrow path and truly immersing themselves in the experience but without ropes or safety nets it’s just a little too much for me to get my head around nowadays.
I prefer the cheap seats, climbing the wonderful tower that the municipality of Pai had the forethought to build in take in the magnificent vistas in relative safety.
